TWO MOUNTAINS PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia 2025

Highlight of my year so far - assisting with the set-up of photography exhibition 'Two Mountains' at Sabah Art Gallery, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. My mother is Malay and this was my first time returning after 8 years to visit family. I started my trip by re-connecting with a talented community of Malaysian photographers I've been lucky to know for many years, some based in London. This exhibition is an ongoing project since 2014, a ‘joint friendship’ initiated by the directors of KLPA and KLEE, INC PARIS TOKYO, Steven Lee and Naoko OHTA. The 'Two Mountains' are representing Mt. Kinabalu + Mt.Fuji, bringing Japanese & Malaysian photographers together despite having a political history of conflict. The best part was driving to Mt. Kinabalu and seeing the expressions on the faces of the locals after receiving their prints. Totally priceless and goes to show the power of a good photo... I couldn't be more grateful for this experience, and have a new found appreciation for what I do.
This exhibition is ongoing until June 15th 2025. See more: https://twomountains.wordpress.com/
